graveyard

once upon a time

a girl really liked this boy

she didn’t usually 

let herself get close

but this time, she did

so, she let herself fall

into the depths

of what she thought

was love

without blinking an eye

she thought

he was a safe place to land

a sturdy rock to lean on

shelter from the storm

she currently lives in

but

she fell into a graveyard

she looked around

to find her fall 

softened by bones

of his past lovers

some buried with love

others tossed aside to rot

some were still breathing

one looked like

she had been there forever

and the ruler of this graveyard,

he promised that he cared

and that he wasn’t going anywhere

but the skeletons

of all those girls

seemed to shake their heads in despair

as he fed me the lines

that poisoned them to death
